Welcome:

Welcome to where you can learn everything you need to know about Ron Wheeler’s involvement with The Navigators in their Workplace Mission.

Group Presentations

God has opened the door for Ron to share his Christian testimony and teach about his work and his faith all over the globe … including countries such as, Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia, and Guatemala. In this video, ventriloquist Ray Cooper shares about Ron’s visit to his country of New Zealand. Ron has also been a frequent teacher at the University of Nations in Kona, Hawaii. Also he often speaks locally in various places around the Kansas City area, ranging from Christian schools, to churches, home school award ceremonies, and rescue missions.

One-on-one Discipleship

One-on-one relationships are at the heart of effective discipleship. In this fun video, Curt “Cletus” Johnson explains it all in his winsome hillbilly manner. Ron himself was a weekly disciple of longtime Navigator Jake Combs for 34 years. This experience has proved invaluable as Ron invests himself in one-on-one relationships with men who can also invest themselves in others. As the Apostle Paul stated in his letter to his favorite disciple Timothy … And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” – 2 Timothy 2:2.

Small Group Bible Study

In this video several participants from Ron’s various small groups give testimonies as to how the Lord uses Ron’s gifts for appropriating God’s Truths in a practical way. Ron has taught Sunday school classes and small group Bible studies for several years, and is now teaching the Word of God in Workplace Bible studies around the Kansas City metro area.

1) One-on-one discipleship with businessmen, professionals, and entrepreneurs with the end goal of making disciple makers out of these men.

2) Small group Bible studies in the workplace with the end goal of transforming the workplace with committed followers of Jesus Christ.

How Ron came to this Role:

(Taken from Ron’s Navigator Kickoff gathering – 11/22/15)

Ron’s History as a cartoonist:

  • Since 1980, the Lord’s calling on Ron’s life has been to create cartoons to be a communication vehicle for spreading God’s Truths.

  • Read the text version here.
  • Watch an animation highlighting 35 years of Ron’s work.

Ron’s Calling to go on staff with The Navigators:

  • Because of the Internet, tough economy, and changing dynamics of churches, many of Ron’s clients have gone out of business.
  • Watch this video (Nav Kickoff 1) from his Navigator Kickoff gathering of how Ron describes his thought process for joining The Navigators.
  • Ron will continue to create cartoons and humor illustrations for Christian ministries, publishing companies, and others … but on a part-time basis now.
  • Some of his cartooning will also shift toward some of his own projects such as an animated tract he created and explains here (Nav Kickoff 2) at his Navigator Kickoff gathering.
  • The WordlessMessage.com is a free wordless animation of the Gospel message, usable for any people group in any country. Feel free to pass this on to others.
  • Ron lays out his purpose and vision for discipleship within the workplace through several short excerpts here (Nav Kickoff 3) from his Navigator Kickoff gathering.

Kansas City Navigator director, David Wooddell, underscores the need for “Gospel Patrons” to support Ron’s ministry in a variety of ways in this video (Nav Kickoff 4) at Ron’s Navigator Kickoff gathering.

  • The Biblical standard is found in people like Barnabus, Phoebe, Priscilla and Aquila as being examples of Gospel Patrons who supported Paul.
  • For every missionary serving in the field, there is a need for dozens of Gospel Patrons to help behind the scenes.
  • Gospel Patron help for Ron can come in the form of prayer support and encouragement.
  • It can also come from Gospel Patrons who would introduce Ron to other potential ministry partners.
  • It can also come from Gospel Patrons who will agree to host a Bible study/discussion group in their workplace.
  • AND it especially needs to come from Gospel Patrons who are willing to step out in faith and give financially to assist in the Calling God has given Ron. Here’s where you can go to send in a tax-deductible contribution.

We Need Your Help!

The Navigators is a faith-based ministry. Everyone who serves in ministry for The Navigators has to raise their own financial support. 1. prayer and encouragement,
  2. introducing Ron to potential ministry partners,
  3. considering hosting workplace Bible studies, …
  4. contributing financially toward Ron’s efforts. If you would like to partner with Ron on this mission, go here for instructions on how to make a tax-deductible contribution.

Contributions can be made here!.
    2. PassionFund.org This is a scholarship fund Ron and Cindy started to reward the worthy passion of home school graduates in the Kansas City area. Who are The Navigators?

The Navigators is an international interdenominational Christian ministry that helps people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ as they navigate through life. Their motto is, “To know Christ and to make him known.” Here is a brief animated video that shows the scope of their ministry around the world.

Why The Navigators?

Ron was discipled (Biblically trained and mentored) by Navigator Jake Combs, who met with Ron on a weekly basis for 34 years before his passing in 2013. Jake prayed with Ron, counseled Ron with Scripture, and built the Word of God into his life during this time. As Christian publishing began a slow retrenchment over the last decade it became obvious that The Navigators was an organization Ron could transition toward to serve where he was already fully vetted and trained.

What is Ron’s calling?

Ron’s calling is to capture hearts for Christ among business people, professionals, and entrepreneurs in the South Kansas City area and beyond through one-on-one discipleship, small group Bible studies, and large group presentations.

Who will Ron be working with?

Ron’s work will be done on three fronts:

1) One-on-one discipleship with businessmen, professionals, and entrepreneurs with the end goal of making disciple makers out of these men.

2) Small group Bible studies in the workplace with the end goal of transforming the workplace with committed followers of Jesus Christ.

3) Large group presentations with the end goal of advancing the Kingdom building efforts of the groups he is speaking at.

How will Ron be ministering?

The primary tools Ron will use in his ministry are:

1) The Word of God. The Word itself has a transformational affect …

a. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Heb. 4:12.

b. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Tim 3:16-17.

c. Ron’s focus is to encourage others to examine the Word through intensive study as well as Scripture memorization.

2) Ron’s personal testimony. His testimony speaks to the personal, powerful affect of God coming alive in his life. It lays the groundwork for the Gospel sharing that follows. Here’s his testimony in three forms…

a. in print

b. in video

c. and through radio drama

3) His creative cartooning skills. God has gifted Ron with the ability to create cartoons to be a communication vehicle for spreading His Truths. His tracts alone have been distributed to over 50 million people.

4) Open discussion. Ron believes people will retain what they are able to express out their own exploration more than what they are taught by someone else. God has gifted Ron with an ability to draw God’s Truth out of people through challenging, open-ended questions as well as targeted questions that lead to personal application.

5) Prayer. Ron’s own Navigator mentor, Jake Combs, was on his knees praying weekly in his studio for many many years. He set the pattern for Ron to follow. “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16b.

6) Affirmation. This is one of the most powerful tools that anyone can use and almost everyone underestimates. Paul expressed his affection for the Philippian church in Phil 1:3-11, 4:1. Teaching them was more than an intellectual exercise for Paul. The same is true for us. Our job is to love, love, LOVE (and let God handle the retribution). Read Romans 12:9-19.

Will he still be cartooning?

Most definitely! Cartooning is too much a part of who God made Ron to be. Ron will continue to create cartoon-based products for as long as there is an opportunity. Hopefully that opportunity will take the form of creating his own projects that might augment what he is doing with The Navigators. For example, the Wordless Message is a powerful 5-minute animation he created that is free for anyone to use with any people group, any language, any culture … and it presents the Gospel message wordlessly.

Will he still take on freelance assignments?

Absolutely! If anyone would like to consider using Ron for their next project, they should visit his Portfolio Wild website to get a good look at what he’s been able to do over the last three plus decades. Then contact him to discuss your potential assignment.

How will Ron split his time?

Ron has begun with a commitment to work 20-30 hours per week for The Navigators … some of these hours he’s already been spending on discipleship efforts over the last several years on a volunteer basis. It’s just that now he will be more intentional with those efforts and be able to devote more of himself toward that task as time goes forward. His time working as a cartoonist has already been shortened due to the downturn in Christian publishing. His work will also be shortened by cutting back on some administrative aspects of this work as well as extending deadlines for some of his existing and ongoing projects. His plan is to continue to be bi-vocational, however. Being a professional adds to his credentials with some of the people he has been reaching.

Will Ron’s role with The Navigators be a paid position?

Yes, but only through the contributions of others. The Navigators is a faith-based ministry. Everyone who serves in ministry for The Navigators has to raise their own financial support. It’s clear not everyone can spare the time or has the inclination to do what Ron has been called to do. For many of those people, they can still take part by contributing with prayer and encouragement … and they can also contribute financially toward Ron’s efforts. If you would like to partner with Ron on this mission, go here for instructions on how to make a tax-deductible contribution.

Will Ron need to move?

No. Whereas The Navigator’s headquarters is in Colorado Springs, Colorado, thousands of people serve with this ministry in locations all over the earth. The Kansas City area is where Ron and his family have lived for over 30 years. Ron is well connected there and it provides the best opportunity for Ron to make the greatest impact through The Navigator’s Workplace Mission. Ron plans to continue to live in Kansas City and use this location as a platform for his ministry there as well as across the globe.

Will Ron have other ministry involvements?

Yes. Ron is involved in other ministry organizations, such as:

1)      Ron Wheeler’s ministry through FaithandLearning.org. This provides tax-deductible scholarships for disadvantaged kids to come to Ron’s Cartoon Camps, special mission trips that are cartoon related, and other specialized contributions to help fund projects such as Ron’s Gospel oriented cartoon animation, The WordlessMessage.com. Contributions can be made here .

2)      PassionFund.org This is a scholarship fund Ron’s wife, Cindy, and he started with some estate money to reward the worthy passion of home school graduates in the Kansas City area. They’re collecting donations here as well as organizing fundraisers in an attempt to keep this fund going when the seed money they used to start it runs out.
